Bar and Bat Mitzvah Candy, Favors and Dessert Table Ideas
Share
A bar or bat mitzvah is a milestone for the whole family, and the sweet details are where the honoree's personality really shows. We have been making mitzvah favors, candy tables and cakes in our Chestnut Hill studio for decades, and these are the ideas families come back to again and again.
Start With the Theme and the Colors
Most of the decisions get easier once you settle on two things: a theme and a color palette. Some families pull the colors from the invitation, some from the honoree's favorite sports team, and some from the venue itself. Once you have the palette, every wrapper, ribbon, favor bag and candy jar can follow it, and the room feels planned from end to end.
Personalized Wrapped Candy Bars
Our wrapped candy bars are full size Hershey's bars in a custom wrapper printed with the honoree's name, the date and the theme. They come twelve bars to a box, which makes them easy to set at each table or tuck into hotel welcome bags for out of town guests. The Bar and Bat Mitzvah collection has designs made for the day, and we can match any wrapper to your colors.
A Color Matched Candy Buffet
A candy buffet is the spot where kids gather all night, and it photographs beautifully. Our candy buffets are portioned by guest count in sizes for about 25, 50 or 100 guests. Choose from eleven single colors, go bright with rainbow, or build a two tone table in your theme colors. We fill it with favorites like M&M's, Hershey's Kisses in colored foil, gumballs and Dum Dums. Glass jars and trays for a full display, plus local setup in the Greater Boston area, can be added when you order.
Tips for a buffet that looks full all night
- Plan for your full guest count, kids and adults together. Everyone visits the candy table.
- Mix heights with jars, trays and a centerpiece so the table has shape.
- Set out take home bags or boxes next to the buffet so guests can fill their own.
Favors Guests Actually Take Home
The best favors are small, sweet and personal. A few of our most requested:
- Organza favor bags filled with Hershey's Kisses, tied with ribbon in your colors.
- Chocolate coin favor bags, a fun nod to tradition and a hit with younger guests.
- Kisses and miniatures with custom labels, in bags of 50, 100 or 250 for larger events.
- Sports balls and novelty candy for a sports themed celebration.
- Party favor containers like pillow boxes, mini jars and pouches you can fill from the buffet.
The Dessert Table
Around the cake, a mix of textures and sizes keeps the table interesting.
- A custom cake in the theme colors, with the honoree's name on top. Browse Frosted Cakes and Specialty Cakes for a starting point.
- Cupcakes piped in the palette, from regular and mini cupcakes to a cupcake cake that spells out a name or number.
- Decorated sugar cookies sold by the dozen, iced with initials, Stars of David or theme shapes. See our decorated cookies.
- Chocolate dipped Oreos in milk, dark or white chocolate, finished with drizzle or sprinkles in your colors.
A Planning Timeline
- Two to three months out: choose your theme and colors, and call us to talk through favors, the buffet and the cake.
- Six to eight weeks out: confirm wrapper wording, label artwork and quantities so we can design and approve everything with you.
- Two weeks out: confirm your final guest count and delivery or setup details.
- The week of: cakes and cupcakes are baked fresh for your date, with local Boston area delivery or pickup at our studio.
Many candy favors can also ship to families celebrating outside the Boston area. Tell us where the event is and we will plan delivery or shipping with you.
